ABOUT US
Your Vehicle To Winning The Hispanic Customers
We don't market to the Latino Community, We market as Latinos to our Community.
For over 28 years, El Conquistador Latino Newspaper has proudly led the way in reaching and uplifting our Latino Community! We are more than just a newspaper—we are a vibrant pillar, passionately covering the stories, achievements, and issues that mainstream media often overlooks. Our dedication keeps our community energized, engaged, and thriving. Thanks to your support, we’ve built an unshakable reputation as the go-to source for Latino news and inspiration.
We’re deeply connected to our community through an incredible network of local Latino leaders, community groups, social activists, and more. As Milwaukee’s only Latino-owned newspaper, we proudly champion local events, organizations, and businesses—celebrating every milestone together! Our mission is to unite, empower, and serve as a dynamic bridge connecting our vibrant community to the broader market.
We bring our community together by organizing lively festivals and exciting expos—spotlighting our community successes and celebrating our rich, diverse culture!
From day one, we chose to stand on our own merits—not government labels. We’ve never applied for Disadvantaged Business, Affirmative Action, or Minority-Owned Business Programs, because we want advertisers to choose El Conquistador out of respect and trust, not obligation. Our success is built on passion and dedication, not government requirements.
We’re powered entirely by your belief in us! With no government funding, we count on your advertising support to keep our community informed, connected, and inspired. Your partnership fuels our mission to celebrate Latino culture and uplift the positive voices that make our community shine.
OUR STORY
Founded in Milwaukee on July 4, 1998, El Conquistador Latino Newspaper was born from a vision to uplift and empower Milwaukee's Hispanic community. The venture began in Henry R. Sifuentes' basement to fill a major void in local Latino coverage. Against all odds and despite countless challenges, the newspaper became a beacon of hope and unity, inspiring generations by proving that perseverance and passion can build something extraordinary.
El Conquistador Latino Newspaper covers the struggles and successes of Wisconsin's Latino community. El Conquistador features valuable information about the community, including local Latino-owned businesses, entertainment, health, social, religion, politics, and general information. Plus, there is a section for teenagers called "Lateeno News" and a page titled "Latinos In History" celebrating Latino culture, history, and traditions.
Through unwavering resolve, relentless dedication, and an unbreakable belief in their mission, the staff of El Conquistador overcame incredible obstacles to create a publication that truly reflects the heart and soul of Wisconsin’s Latino community.

Today, El Conquistador stands as a testament to the power of dreams and resilience, proudly recognized as Wisconsin's best and longest-running Latino-owned weekly bilingual newspaper. The newspaper grew into southeastern Wisconsin's premier free, weekly bilingual publication. Since then, the paper has bridged communication gaps across Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and Waukesha by reporting on hyper-local issues, community milestones, education, and cultural traditions.
Beyond delivering essential Spanish- and English-language journalism, Visit Milwaukee's Community Directory documents how the organization functions as a dynamic cultural anchor by hosting weekend radio programming, career and health fairs, annual awards dinners, and major cultural gatherings such as the Cinco de Mayo Festival and Wedding & Quinceañera Expos.
El Conquistador Latino Newspaper has always led with a sincere commitment to uplifting and serving our community. With deep generosity, we have worked to address food insecurity, provided vital Back to School Supplies, and hosted annual Thanksgiving Turkey and Christmas Ham Giveaways. We have come together to raise funds for Mexico and Puerto Rico disaster relief, stood in support of immigration rights marches, organized toy drives, and so much more. Each effort stems from our heartfelt desire to make a meaningful difference and give back generously to those who trust and support us.
Through its dual commitment to informative storytelling and grassroots engagement, El Conquistador has empowered local Hispanic business owners, preserved cultural pride, and served as an indispensable civic voice for generations of Latino families.
